Dr. Vivek Shandas is Professor of Climatic Adaptation and Director of the Sustaining Urban Places Research (SUPR) Lab at Portland State University. Prof. Shandas specializes in developing strategies for addressing the implications of climate change on cities. His teaching and research examine the intersection of exposure to climate-induced events, governance processes, and planning mechanisms. As an interdisciplinary scholar, Dr. Shandas studies the emergent characteristics that generate vulnerability among communities and infrastructure. Theoretically, he views cities as grand experiments that are socially constructed, and can vary in their capacities to adapt to changing social and ecological conditions. Empirically, Dr. Shandas examines the human and planetary forces that facilitate (or inhibit) collective response. As such the broad aims of his teaching and research are to identify threats to planetary habitation, and shape landscapes to improve urban environmental quality. He teaches courses in environmental planning, participatory geographic information systems (GIS), and climate adaptation.

Dr. Osagie Ebekozien is the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at the T1D Exchange. In this role, he directs a learning health network of over forty endocrinology clinics across the U.S. and works internationally with colleagues in Germany, Austria, and England on improving diabetes care globally. He is an Assistant Professor of Population Health at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Associate Faculty with Ariadne Labs.
Dr. Ebekozien’s research interest is on health equity, quality improvement, and implementation science to improve population health. He has received international awards for his work including most recently 2021 ISPAD International Prize for Innovation in Pediatric Diabetes. He is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences. His work has been featured by many national media networks including NPR News and ABC News. He has authored several peer-review publications and sits on many Leadership Boards.

Dr. Deborah Helitzer is a professor and dean of the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University. Her research has focused on health outcome improvements through interventions in communities and in clinical settings. She has collaborated with researchers studying diabetes, injury prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, cancer, and obesity prevention. Prior to joining ASU in August 2017, Helitzer was the Founding Dean of the College of Population Health at the University of New Mexico, where she led the development and implementation of the nation's first undergraduate degree in population health.
Since 2009, Professor Helitzer has also focused her attention on mentor and career development among women faculty in academic medical centers. She has been an author on more than 80 publications, three books, and eight book chapters and has led or significantly contributed to over $65 million of population health research. As a collaborator, she is nationally renowned for her expertise, in theory, measurement, logic models, intervention design and evaluation, childhood adversity, health literacy, and patient-provider communication.
Professor Helitzer earned her Doctor of Science in international health from The Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and a B.A. in Communications from Washington University.

Fred Goldstein is the founder and president of Accountable Health, LLC, a healthcare consulting firm focused on population health. He has over 30 years of experience in population health, disease management, HMO, and hospital operations. He is an expert in population health, care management, risk management, health information technology (HIT), and health system design and development.
During his career, Mr. Goldstein founded a disease management company that provided services to 11 State Medicaid programs and numerous employer groups, operated an HMO that was ranked the highest quality Medicaid Health Plan in Florida, developed an award-winning mobile health app, and worked with health systems and vendors to develop population health programs and platforms. He was also directly responsible for the inclusion of the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit in the Affordable Care Act.
Mr. Goldstein serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal Population Health Management, the founding Advisory Board of Population Health News, the Best Practices Review Panel for the Institute for Medicaid Innovation at Medicaid Health Plans of America, is a judge for the Health Value Awards and is Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Population Health Alliance. Mr. Goldstein has testified before the legislature in the states of Alaska, Florida, Kentucky, and Texas on disease and population health management and their application to state employees and Medicaid. He is also the co-founder and lead host of PopHealth Week, a weekly podcast featuring thought leaders and companies working in population health.
Mr. Goldstein received his MS in Health Care Administration from Trinity University and a B.A. in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dennis Weaver is the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for the Advisory Board and Advisory Board Solutions. Dr. Weaver leads a team focused on strategy, development, and operations for accountable payment models, population health management, and Accountable Care Organizations (ACO). With Advisory Board Solutions, Dr. Weaver provides customized, holistic, transformational solutions for our health system partners.
Dr. Weaver works with hospitals, health systems, payers, governments, and employers to improve health-care quality, patient experience, and cost-effectiveness. His expertise includes value-based care models, negotiating accountable payment terms, and innovative technology solutions. He is responsible for redesigning care delivery methods to improve population health, primary care relationships, information technology connectivity, and financial sustainability.
Dr. Weaver managed one of the largest medical home transformations in the country, the Adirondack Regional Medical Home Pilot in New York. This resulted in an ACO of five hospital systems, 33 primary care practices, 224 primary care providers, and a Pilot in New York. This resulted in an ACO of five hospital systems, 33 primary care practices, 224 primary care providers, and nine commercial and government payers. As a result, Adirondack ACO LLC provides greater quality, lower cost, and enhanced patient experience and was approved as a Medicare Shared Savings Program for 2014.
